Sharon Bourbonnais began her music education on the piano at age 7 and went on to sing in choirs and play in bands growing up. She enrolled in music courses at Texas Southmost College, Brownsville in 1983. As a single mom with two young children in tow, she moved to Austin and was accepted at the University of Texas, Butler School of Music as a composition major. After her first year of study Sharon switched her major to music education and earned her Bachelor degree and Texas teachers certificate K-12 Choral General.
Sharon has taught in several public and private schools from Texas to Hawaii. Her classroom experience ranged from K-6 music classes to choir and band 7-12, as well as directing community and church choirs. Having “retired” from the classroom she continues to teach all ages the joys of music with private instruction both in person and online, hosting fun, relaxed recitals twice a year.
